Leslie Eva Tayloe is a children’s picture book author. She’s the author of I’m Fishing with Pop-Pop Today (Austin Macauley Publishers, 2022), Save the Trees (Brandylane Publishers, Releasing April 11, 2024) Illustrator, Lintang Panda Pratiwi, and Eduardo’s Attic Door (Doodle and Peck Publishing, Winter 2024), and an article titled, Marketing Group Helps Writers (Children’s Book Insider, April 2023). Leslie is a former analyst with the federal government, and a substitute teacher for elementary school-aged children. Leslie lives with her partner, Michael, in Virginia. When Leslie isn’t writing, she loves to read, craft anything, and take long walks with her dog, Frankie.
Leslie earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Nevada, and a Master’s Degree in Human Resource Managment from the University of Maryland. She is a member of SCBWI, CBI/WriteForKids, Inked Voices, and the 12X12 Picture Book Community. The objectives of the CBW are: to further the craft of writing; to provide members with opportunities for connecting and exchanging ideas with others who share similar interests; to assist and encourage members in their efforts to achieve their writing-related goals; to offer educational and informative programs about writing and marketing finished works.

 

The Chesapeake Bay Writers is a non-profit membership-based writing community where individuals come to enhance their writing skills, explore various genres, and connect with other writers. We offer a supportive environment for writers of all levels to learn and grow.

Call for Submissions


Do you have an idea for a holiday short story that needs to be written? Are you looking for an extra publishing credit on your resume? The Chesapeake Bay Writers announces its upcoming holiday-themed anthology of fiction short stories to be published through traditional publisher, Blue Fortune Enterprises LLC. Release date for the anthology is October 2024. Guidelines for submission are below.

Please adhere to the guidelines listed. This is a competitive process and not all stories submitted will be accepted.
FAILURE TO FOLLOW GUIDELINES COULD RESULT IN AUTOMATIC
REJECTION.

Guidelines:

  • ï‚· Must be a current member of Chesapeake Bay Writers

  • ï‚· Stories must be no longer than 5k words and must be holiday themed (Christmas, Hannukah, Kwanzaa, Solistice)

  • ï‚· Stories must have a local setting

  • ï‚· Submissions must be in Microsoft Word, 12 point, Times New Roman font

  • ï‚· Deadline for submission is June 12, 2024

  • ï‚· Stories that have previously appeared online (temporarily or permanently, on your own or a third-party site) should not be submitted, nor should work that has already been

  • published electronically or in print

  • ï‚· Simultaneous submissions are welcome with timely notification of acceptance elsewhere

  • ï‚· All submissions are to be sent to: narielle@blue-fortune.com


This is a collaboration between Blue Fortune Enterprises and CBW, therefore neither party will charge a fee for submitting nor provide payment for publication. If your story is accepted for
publication, a contract will be issued by Blue Fortune.
